Command and Control (C2) Communications On-The-Move (OTM) Programs

Since 2006 AUSGAR Technologies has played a pivotal role in the ground breaking research, testing and development of a fully mobile, reliable, secure communications system for use in combat vehicles.  AUSGAR leads the experimentation and research into the first of its kind multi-mode On-The-Move (OTM) communications capability that culminated in the development and combat fielding of the Mobile, Modular, Command and Control (M2C2) system.  AUSGAR’s staff applies expert-level systems engineering skills toward the successful integration of complex multiple secure communications modes to include (Satellite Communications (SATCOM), Tactical Radio Frequency (RF) communications, Wireless Fidelity (Wi-Fi) wireless, network Internet Protocol (IP) and Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP) communications) into a single integrated M2C2 system.  This resulted in the fielding of OTM systems in three Mine Resistant Ambush (MRAP) vehicles which were then deployed to Afghanistan and are currently performing tactical operational missions.

AUSGAR is also a lead network architect/(re-)designer and developer of the M2C2 program, providing technical support in the areas of network research, design, configuration, testing, prototype implementation, and accreditation for each of three US Marine Corp (USMC) prototype systems.   Other Network engineering support includes providing technical counsel on the implementation and improvement of Navy & Marine Corps SATCOM architectures, investigation of advanced network technology development, bandwidth management, Quality of Service (QoS) and providing network solutions and implementation processes.  This broad support is applied across a variety of legacy and near term communications systems to include:  Ku SATCOM OTM, Ultra-High Frequency (UHF), High Frequency (HF), VoIP, NIPRNET, SIPRNET, wired and wireless mobile networks.

To ensure that the foundational program elements are equally robust, AUSGAR provides support in the development of technical training manuals, in the field training, conducting network analysis and data collection, test report development for Proof of Concept demonstrations and Full System Assessments (FSAs).   As the technical experts on the M2C2 system, AUSGAR personnel deployed to Afghanistan in order to provide training and technical counsel to field service and military users of the deployed systems.

The success of the M2C2 prototype efforts resulted in an Urgent Universal Need Statement (UUNS) issued by the US Marine Corps (USMC) for further OTM communications system development. Another success to come from the M2C2 system is the Marine Corps’ approval for the development of the Networking on the Move (NOTM) Increment 1 Program. NOTM Increment 1 leverages the same satellite, radio frequency (RF), data wireless, VOIP technologies of M2C2, but with the goal of being vehicle independent and more modular in nature. AUSGAR continues to support these OTM programs with skilled systems, network, and communications engineering expertise.
